Autumn Leaves - Part 2!

St Michael’s Without, Bath

An overnight frost brought down all the remaining Horse Chestnut leaves in one foul swoop. Yesterday’s mountain is only a fraction of what lies out there waiting for me! They’re now forming a perfectly circular golden carpet on the front lawn. And there they will stay until tomorrow as it’s been a thoroughly wet and cold day, only 5 degrees. Parts of Wales and Shropshire even had snow today!

So I’ll just tell you a bit more about yesterday’s “Autumn Leaves” evening, held in the church of St Michael’s Without (so called as it originally stood ‘without’ the walls of the medieval city of Bath). The evening was organised by my library book group leader, as a fundraiser for the charity Read Around Bath. And it was a really lovely evening with autumnal readings, stories and poems read by a host of local literati, including Anthony Head, Bel Mooney and Jonathan Dimbleby. The highlight of the evening for me was when Anthony Head sang In The Bleak Midwinter, as a tribute to his mum who died recently, very moving. Leaving the church, I took this pic, just an hour or so too early to be an official blip for today, so forgive me...

Soon it’ll be time to add a little sparkle to a dark grey day. Keeeep dancing!
