Smokey 1839 hr (Saturday 9th November 2019)

It has rained all day today and I haven't ventured further than the pillar box, so here's Smokey. Believe it or not, it's a fortnight since he last featured. This is a flash-free portrait taken 40 minutes ago.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Big Bill Broonzy, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee - Keys to the Highway (recorded 7 May 1957, LaSalle-Wacker Building, Chicago IL, 0030-0200 hr, for WMFT Chicago)
Today I played the second CD of Got Blues If You Want It (blues songs covered by the Rolling Stones) and found this new-to-me version of the standard Key To The Highway, recorded by, well, everybody, beginning with Charlie Segar in 1940, and made famous by Big Bill (as he was then billed). The details on the minimal liner notes are incorrect and it took a while to trace this version to an album called Blues With Big Bill Broonzy, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, produced by Studs Terkel, who you can hear announcing this track.
