Mrs And Mr Chaffinch

I didn't think I would see my granddaughter until Christmas but she made a flying visit home from Liverpool this weekend. I met her and my daughter at John Lewis for a spot of lunch and some light shopping. It was so lovely to see her.

The weather this morning was misty followed by sunshine before the rain set in. I shot this pair of chaffinches on a dead tree in the hedge. The female appears to be suffering from Fringilla papillomavirus, warty growths on the feet, which I believe can be spread by poor hygiene concerning bird feeders. Not guilty. I have no feeders.
