Don't mention the war...

This is my Great Grandfather on my maternal side. He went to France (14 - 18 war) killed the Hun and came home again. He never talked about his experiences as far as I know..

The two extras show a church in the background, this is the church where he is buried. The tank in the fore ground is Canadian. They were on manoeuvres here during the 39 - 45 war and my father remembered this picture being taken as he was just out of shot on the right. He always had the picture displayed. The other picture shows how it looks today.

Quite different actually because the church has scaffolding up over the roof because someone stole all the lead off of it... Villagers have had to raise lots of money to get it reinstated gradually There are greedy thieves around who've never been caught....

Cold day but pleasant, mum was well as was her cleaner too..

Thanks for dropping in today
