Wild Koala

My cousin says that all you need to see a wild koala is to poke it with a stick!  I do enjoy seeing koalas in their natural habitat - it's easy to see them in a wildlife park but to find them in their natural environment is not easy.  They are so picky with what they eat and where they will eat it.

One place where they are almost guaranteed is French Island near Melbourne (Australia) where there is a conservation area and a community of healthy koalas.  They are soooo cute and sit up in the branches watching what's going on below - mainly us trying to take photographs whilst endlessly swiping flies to stop them and other things from biting us (and failing).

We walked miles on French Island today but managed to spot quite a few koalas and. I think, have a few in focus shots.  We moved on to see some pelicans waiting hopefully for leftovers from the fishermen's catches (extra).

Great day today in a stunning part of the world with superb people.
