River Tay and Telford's Bridge

Thomas Telford was a 19th century Scottish civil engineer, architect and stonemason, road, bridge and canal builder. As well as numerous infrastructure projects he designed harbours and tunnels. Such was his reputation he was dubbed The Colossus of Roads (a pun on the 'Colossus of Rhodes').This bridge links the villages of Birnam and Dunkeld.The two places lie close to the Highland Boundary Fault - the geological barrier between the Highlands and the Lowlands..
