Newlyn

We had a wander round Newlyn this morning, after issues to do with blinds, radiators and a boiler had been sorted. And after we had stopped for wonderful coffee at a cafe just down the road.

This is a view of Newlyn harbour, still a working port with many fishing boats bringing in fish every day and sending it all round the country. In the distance you can see the beaches of Penzance and the unmistakeable St Michael’s Mount.

After Cornish pasties (of course), bought on our way back, we set out to Marazion (where ValC has stayed many, many times) and a dog run on the beach by St Michael’s Mount. Onto Penlee House Gallery and Museum, where we spent an interesting hour or so, whilst our daughter and husband went into Penzance to discuss plans for their kitchen refurbishment with the guy who is doing it all for them. A visit on the way back to the Mexico Inn so Gordon could try some real Cornish beer.

A super day, despite not very good weather.
