Light and dark

Oxford's annual festival of light began this evening. I loved these Ghost Caribou dancing in Broad Street, and Spark! (extra) were perfect to head the street procession of children carrying the cane and tissue lanterns they've spent weeks making. The forecast heavy rain mostly just drizzled feebly though the forecast bitter cold was indeed bitter. But there were still lots of people out and I lasted over three hours exploring some of the different ways light and sound can alleviate the gloom of this time of year.

That was the good bit of today. At the other extreme was getting a phone call to say that a wise friend died unexpectedly last weekend. He was only 63 and I cannot believe it. (I will add his name in homage when the news has travelled a bit further.)
