Flock

We nipped down to Langstone Harbour this afternoon for a bit of a wander. Although it was only about 2.30 pm it was really dark and dismal, with just a hint of sun over on the Portsmouth horizon. As another walker said to us, anyone would think it was the middle of November. There were lots of waders flocking, including the ones pictured. They make the most amazing noise as they fly past - all those synchronised wings. In Extras is one of two egrets I saw (definitely a little one as it had yellow feet). I had to really dial up the exposure compensation to get it even this light.

In other bird news, in addition to yesterday's list of garden visitors there is also a bullfinch, and at the park today we saw a kingfisher. Not only did we see it, but it perched on a branch just in front of us and just sat there for some time. Of course, this was only the second day this week I didn't take my camera, so you'll just have to take my word for it.
