Nature's Patterns

Today we went for a walk in Chirk Castle Woodlands. It's beautiful at the moment as there are still autumn coloured leaves on some of the trees.

We bumped into a friend that had just been to see two Black Five steam engines at Chirk Station. We didn't know about them or we'd have been there too!

There were plenty of birds around, the star was a tree creeper hunting for insects (extra photo).

There are lots of old trees in the woods and my favourite is a 500 year old Sweet Chestnut. It's still alive and producing leaves and fruit despite it's age. Lots of branches have fallen off and are lying around, many with beautiful patterns like the one in my blip.  To my eyes the bark is a stunning natural abstract.
