Leather Heart

The other thing about this Raime album (following on from yesterday here) is that it even makes Grouper's skeletal new/old noodlings sound positively brisk and jolly!

At a very different place on the cultural spectrum, I went to see 'Les Miserables' this evening with the girls and enjoyed it very much. Okay, it's far too long, it wouldn't know subtle if subtle poked it with a big, pointy stick and Russell Crowe is a bit poor, but when it's good it really is very good - and slightly hysterical, camp, tear-stained good at that. Fontine's precipitous descent into poverty and prostitution - and the song that climaxes it - is particularly gothic and heart-rending (Oscar-worthy stuff from Anne Hathaway, I think...) I might even go again, particularly now that I know exactly when to go for a pee-and-coffee-refill-break (If you're thinking of going, it's about half-way through and RC is striding about on a rooftop opposite Notre-Dame, about to start singing again...) In the meantime, Katie and I are going to have a 'Sweeney Todd' evening sometime next week...
