The Essex Winter Rally

Today started early as we headed over in the Triumph to Colchester area. It was the Essex Winter Rally - a navigational challenge round Essex of around 80 miles. You're given a map, and a set of cryptic clues and diagrams to follow - and you have to work out what the correct route should be. There are small "code boards" around the route to collect to show you've done it correctly - each code board has a letter or number on it.

We had the 3 Amigos with us - who arrived on Friday as a stop off on their world tour. Having had a quiet Saturday to settle in, they came with us in their travelling kennel to help plan the route. Here we are, part way round, with Kelso and Rowan giving me a hand with the next set of clues, and Trigger just bouncing around - too excited to really be of much help if we're honest...

Their help worked, and we got to the end with a very satisfactory score. We were only in Beginner class (learning how to do it as this was my (Annie's) first time navigating) - next time we may be brave and do the novice class - one up. We won in our class...

The boys and we got home safely - and mum Kelso will be happy to know that they're now having a good rest.
