Costa Fife

The view from Claire’s bedroom window is stunning as always. Dawn gives way to bright sunlight glinting off the dappled sea. In the distance, Edinburgh and East Lothian fester under clouds.

I cook paneer and spinach curry. We walk from harbour to harbour, always within calling distance of the lifeboat station. And then, as evening heckles the day, I board the train and begin my journey.

I trudge through nighttime Camden. It’s coming on ten. On the telly, they’re re-running a documentary about Ursula Le Guin. A perfect end to the day.
