'Motherless'

I love this sculpture by George Lawson (1889).
It has always been a favourite at Kelvingrove Art Gallery, proof that sadness can be popular. The girl's mother has died in childbirth or during a Victorian epidemic, leaving her father to look after her.

Having travelled out to Kelvingrove by the underground we discovered that at long last we can now pay money into our bus pass and use the pass as our ticket .... no more queuing at the ticket office .... a great day!
