Life in Sunny Dubai

Outstanding

(Wednesday 20/11/19)

It is 19/11/19 and rachelwhynot beat us all today! Well done to her! :P

Well, after yesterday's carry on with the local bank, today we were totally wowed and blown away by the Ritz Carlton in DIFC. Unlike the horrible experience we had in Muscat, the Dubai branch showed us what this hotel's brand is built on!

First of, we were there to attend EdEX MENA, my former employer's education conference. There is also a small "exhibition" and two free classrooms where you can listen to experts talk about specialist stuff.

Our friends Pushpa and David were there too, and we met up with them almost as soon as we got there. We attended a seminar and then reckoned it was time to refuel. Being new to the hotel, we were pointed to their cafe which is called Cake. I happened to mention to the waitress that it was our first time there.

Well. She organised fresh fruit juices (orange and carrot) - on the house. Then she brought out the doughnut (pictured above). She said it was because it was our first time. Fantastic service followed. The Ritz Carlton has a policy to address their customers by name, and staff are trained to find ways to remember them. One thing she did was ask to take a selfie with us...

We got home in time for 4 o'clock tea. Then a little rest before heading out again - this time for Ladies Night at the Warehouse to meet up with ex-colleagues. Ladies I've known for over 21 years! My extra is the official record of the evening. We were a nice small group, so it was easy to chat apart from the fact that there were two bands trying to get our attention.

The venue has changed its menu and staff. The new ones haven't had enough training/experience yet, so parts of the evening were painful. The food was excellent though, and still amazing value for money.

We got home just after midnight, dropping Diane home. No time to think about blipping.
