Golf courses in Scotland

Heard this morning that Dollar golf club, just 10 miles along the road from us, is closing while Callander golf club, 11 miles away in the opposite direction, is in the process of selling its club house because its too expensive to maintain.
It will be replaced with a hut and holiday chalets.

Meanwhile our local 9-hole club, Bridge of Allan, (pictured) manages to survive.

Unfortunately, the reality is  Scotland has too many golf courses for them all to remain financially viable, especially with the decline of interest in golf amongst young people who are reluctant to give up at least half a day a week to the sport.  (Yes I played, very badly, for a few years).
