El pulpo

The octopus ... a useful landmark when giving directions. Also the only photo I've taken the last two (busy) days. On Tuesday: Spanish class in the morning, and in the afternoon we finally managed to see Pedro Almodòvar's latest film, Dolor y Gloria, in Spanish with English subtitles ... perfect. We enjoyed it; as the title suggests, it was both elegiac and uplifting, with a kind of happy ending. It's clearly autobiographical and many scenes were filmed in Almodòvar's own flat, which is as colourful and stylish as you would expect. Brilliant acting, especially from Antonio Banderas and the little boy who played him as a child. And from there I went off to choir practice where we started work on Besame Mucho in eight legs parts (despite our small numbers). It's one of my favourite songs. It can be sung in so many ways, but here's Cesaria Evora.

Today, i.e. Wednesday: one of my two book groups, and another physio session with the fantastic Mari-Vi. I am blown away by her, she's made such a massive difference. It often hurts when she's doing it, but I can walk completely normally now, which was not the case three weeks ago. And to finish the day: the conviviality of a large, noisy intercambio. We did make it home before midnight as it's an early start tomorrow.
