Thursday: Power Supply

I found it really hard to tear myself away from the impeachment hearings this morning.  Every day has been compelling anyway, but I was particularly taken with Dr Fiona Hill - she was composed, knowledgeable and eloquent and her summary of how men dismiss women when they are angry as being ‘upset’ was a masterclass in takedowns.

Beyond that, I had an interesting morning at a conference covering hate speech and hate crimes.  It was fascinating.  I learnt a lot about the importance of counterspeech and how, when well organised, it can be incredibly effective.
