A pleasant surprise

I planted some seeds last spring and watched with amazement as it became obvious they certainly were not the cavolo nero l was expecting. This is one of the flowers, in fact the last of the yellow and deep burgandy gaillardias that grew. I hope they come up again next year.

After yesterdays bitter weather it is raining today and about 8° warmer, l am spending the morning standing outside Tescos supermarket asking everybody who goes in to perhaps buy a couple of extra items to put in the food bank box. I do this a couple of times a year and people are usually quite generous.
