Winchester Cathedral

Woke up to a deep and very cold frost, oh how l wanted to snuggle down in bed but no, it was not to be. I was off to Winchester with a friend for the day. The first adventure was at Waterloo station where no commuters where being allowed down onto the tube and all of us down there were quietly being urged upstairs all the time with a tannoy calling for Inspector Sands. It seemed to me as this kept on being repeated that it was some kind of code and l wondered if l was imagining smoke.

All calmed down and we caught our train and an hour later were in the beautiful city of Winchester where there was a Christmas market on the go in the grounds of Britain's oldest cathedral. Christmas presents purchased we had a lovely meal at River Cottage and then caught the train back to London. A cold but wonderful day.

Today's blip is from inside Winchester cathedral. I read there is an Antony Gormley man in the crypt but did not see him. Next time.

Postscript: Inspector Sands is indeed a code used by transport authorities for an emergency (wikipedia)
