The star of the show

I’ve packed in the morning and in the afternoon HtP and I have driven to Hove where we are staying for the weekend.

After unpacking we went into town on the bus and had a lovely meal before going to listen to Jon Boden and the Remnant kings. We’d been to see Jon at the Lyme Regis Folk Festival and as we’d thoroughly enjoyed the evening we booked tickets to see him again.

Every one in the band seemed to play every instrument and at one stage 5 of them were playing the concertina with only one not playing.

But the star of the show was the phonograph. They had wax cylinder recordings of sounds that they played along to.

After lots of singing and clapping we walked back to the AirBnB. We met a man out walking the dog that was dog sitting. She was called Peanut and she had a hair scrunching in hair so that she could see. He wanted a burger and rather than tie up Peanut I held her while he want in to order. You might see her in HtP’s photo. Once ordered he came back out as they were going to bring it out to him. He was very grateful. We wished him a good evening.

We are now drinking a G&T and listening to one of the band members Rob Harbron, a concertina playing. A great start to the weekend.
