Great Crested Newt found hiding amongst the dead, soggy leaves. So, be careful when clearing! This is a poor photo of a female; she had wonderful orange markings underneath but twisted over so quickly I couldn't catch it.

Our walk today was in a 'batch', a valley created by glacial water runoff, still with a fast running brook. Berry had her first real look at running water which was very amusing, and was brave enough to have a mini dip.

Made a batch of mince pies which have gone in the freezer now, possibly a couple might have been consumed ;-)
