Sunday night chocolate.

Went bouldering this morning. I have not been at the climbing wall for far too long.  I have lost muscle, and technique and my hands are soft. A couple of years ago I gave myself a pulley injury in my left hand fitting a kitchen floor. Plus the detached ligament in the left shoulder (fell off a pair of skis). So I decided to be very careful, to warm up, and not take any risks and generally smother my ego in favour of being able to come back and enjoy myself another day.

Then I spent ten minutes watching three fit young blokes fail to reach up a blocky blue. There is a certain satisfaction in gliding up a route and then gliding back down and walking away with a smile.

I will be going back. I'm still a climber.

Feels good.
