Te Hapu Sunset

Back Blip (because of very fickle internet coverage)

Well, what a day this has been.  If you want to read about part of our day please head over to walking wombat's journal.  An account of the most random bizarre meeting that happened this afternoon as were walking back from the beach..

We left Puponga early this morning, heading to Wanganui Inlet on the upper West Coast.  We did a wee detour to Kaihola Lakes and did a short walk before continuing on to the Kahurangi National Park and the Te Hapu Cottage.  We were too early to get in to our cottage (which originally was a shearing shed) so continued down the West Coast to the Anatori River where the road ends.  Such stunning scenery with the gorgeous Nikau Palms and NZ native bush & ferns.  We even found a cafe for a coffee and muffin, we were her first visitors and that was at 1 pm!  Only on the West Coast.
Our accommodation is on private property, as I said above a converted shearing shed, a three room batch.  The area is absolutely awesome.
We took a walk down to our own beach, called Gilberts Beach and OMG it is beautiful, golden sands, Nikau palms, rocky outcrops...truly divine, so much so we went down again at 8.30pm to get some sunset colours.
My blip is one of the distinctive Nikau Palms silhouetted against the sunset tones and the Tasman Sea..
I am astounded and grateful for the response to my two previous blips, thanks so very much.....this area of Golden Bay is rather beautiful.
