a lifetime burning

Again ...

Another portrait of Cathy's brother Steve, taken this morning over coffee in Clifton.  We've put them on the train back to Manchester and they should be arriving at their destination station around now.  It has been lovely having them with us, we don't get to see them anywhere near often enough.

Cathy and I then went to Dad's care home to visit him.  The staff seemed as pleasant and attentive as before and Dad seemed in reasonable spirits.  He was actually very complimentary about the food on a number of occasions during our visit and we are in no doubt that he is getting well looked after.

We had a good visit, but at one stage he did insist on putting on his coat, and as we were leaving there was a definite attempt on his part to leave with us.  He did not cause any sort of a fuss when it was explained that he wasn't due to leave yet,  but I'm pretty sure that this was an escape bid on his part.

He's only in the care home for a week,  having gone in voluntarily at the request of his wife who said that she needed a respite break. He should be going home on Tuesday.  Hopefully she will be feeling recovered and we can all start trying to work out how care is going to be provided for him in the short to medium term .
