Smokey 1307 hr

After I reached my 100th consecutive blip on December 27th I deliberately didn't blip for a couple of days so that I didn't find myself aiming for 150 or (perish the thought) 200. I prefer to take pictures rather than make them, generally speaking, and avoid posed shots or artificially constructed ones (though I admire others who specialise in these), unless I want to write about them specifically.

On the other hand, I do enjoy capturing my feline housemate, and it is over a week since he was featured here, so this is him at lunchtime. Obviously he is aware of me taking his picture, but he isn't posing.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Juicy Lucy - Who Do You Love (1969)
Who Do You Love? has become such a much recorded song that it is sometimes forgotten that it was written and recorded by Bo Diddley back in 1955. Notable versions include one by Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks with a searing guitar from a young Robbie Robertson and one by the Yardbirds. It was the Yardbirds version that was the inspiration for the version by the Misunderstood, featuring the blues guitar of Glenn Ross Campbell.
Juicy Lucy was officially formed on 1 October 1969 from the debris of the Misunderstood, and this was their first single, recorded in September 1969 at IBC Studios in London. It was a top twenty hit, selling more copies than anything the Misunderstood ever did. The line up was Ray Owen (lead vocals), Glenn Ross Campbell (steel guitar, mandolin, marimbas, vocals), Chris Mercer (saxophone, keyboards), Neil Hubbard (guitars), Keith Ellis (bass guitar, vocals), Pete Dobson (drums). It's quite raucous, though for my money doesn't reach the heights that the Misunderstood could, reeking of beer and students rather than hippies and, er, patchouli?
