A first for us - Staged Concert.

Les Miserables was filmed live and broadcast on it’s last night at the Gielgud Theatre (relocates soon) in London to the Macrobert Arts Centre at the University of Stirling. We’d walked past the Gielgud in September 2019; how good is that, broadcast to somewhere we really like, and on our doorstep! The event was very well received by the audience, a full house. There was a 65 strong cast and orchestra ... and a few surprises after the encores - on stage Michael Ball announced this would probably be his last time playing Javert, his successor was elsewhere in the cast and they did an emotional role duet together; he was alluding to the fact that over a 30+yr run actors grow through roles from children to elder statesman etc. And Alfie Boe was accompanied by several other past and future and stand-in Jean Val Jean’s, his character. That was lovely, a super arrangement. Also speeches from the Composer and Director on stage.

We’d a campus walk afterwards, great on a winters night.
