Not what I envisaged.

We went along to “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”panto at the King’ Theatre, Edinburgh this evening, tickets bought away back in mid January! It was great to see Andy Gray back on stage, after he turned ill at the start of last year‘s panto season and had to withdraw from “Beauty and the Beast,” (which we saw on 4 December 2018). He is a real stalwart of the panto scene, and the crowd gave him a warm ovation when he first appeared on stage. The indomitable cast of Messrs Alan Stewart, Grant Stott and Andy Gray were well in tune with one another so early in the run. The support actors, dancers and musicians were great too; and the stage crew must’ve been busy with costume changes and scenery setting. The show definitely contained key elements of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” but it really was a circus themed show, “Greatest Show on Earth.” There were some amazing circus acts and stunts within it; that did not detract from the evening but added to the entire production.

We parked in our usual place and walked up, noting Edinburgh has started to turn festive, but were slightly out of sync because the show started 1/2 an hour earlier than normal King’s performances. We benefited at the end of the evening when we got home sharper than usual; the roads were quiet, and gritters were leaving the Motorway Depot near home.

I was out for coffee this morning with a friend who’s convalescing. His life has picked up a bit over recent weeks, although he’s now got 3-4 months of (mainly) outpatient treatment ahead of him; so more coffee and tea outings will be likely.

We learned this afternoon that our younger son has now been reconnected after the gas incident mentioned in recent posts. That’s pleasing, I hope the other outstanding work can be completed soon.
