Up Duke Of York's Column

I know, I know. You could read that title one of several ways. But today I had a treat - a private view of London from the top of the Duke of York's Column, a sort of twin with Nelson's Column just along the road, but not quite as tall.

You walk up unlit granite steps and eventually emerge on a tiny narrow platform with one of the best views in London. Not for the faint hearted because you are so close to the parapet and the floor seems to slope outwards. But it was worth the effort.

Very many thanks to my guide for taking the trouble to give me an exclusive view of the Duke's column. And it is a very impressive one. I didnt break sweat but I didnt have a pizza either.
