It’s not just the early bird!!

If you want to get your hands on one of Lidl’s bargain boxes of fruit and veg you have to be up like the lark and ready to grab a box as soon as the shop opens for the day. This is what my fellow Fit4Lifer John White does regularly and the left hand photo of the collage is the box he purchased today for the princely sum of £1:50. ‘Fraid to say I’m not so early but by waiting till the afternoon I am able to pick up some amazing yellow label bargains (all at least 50% of their original price) at my local Sainsburys. Today’s haul is the right hand side photo. Best buy today was 2 packs of vegan sausages (one Cumberland and one caramelised onion); both at 54p where original price was £2:24.
Well done to both Lidl and Sainsbury’s in giving these generous reductions. In doing so they encouraging the purchase of good food that would otherwise be destined for landfill.
Wish all other supermarkets offered the same incentive, I know Aldi does but Morrison’s and the Coop offer lip service to this environmentally friendly policy - as the reductions they offer of 10% or less is not enough of an incentive to buy food at sell/use by date, particularly when often the same products are available fresh and cheaper as part of a buy two offer.
