‘Glow’

We’ve had a fabulous evening. Started by a late afternoon drop in to Waitrose in Otley for some shopping as I had a voucher and then on to RHS Harlow Carr where during Advent and early into the New Year the garden is being illuminated for ‘Glow’.
There was quite queue when we arrived but it moved along quickly.
The route allowed around the gardens is quite clear and trees, shrubs and sculptures are beautifully lit, often changing colour. A fine and not too cold an evening was perfect for the walk which took about 50 mins. There was a choir singing in the new marquee. We sang at this event last year but it was a diabolical night so we didn’t hang around.
You end up leaving via the shop for which you are given a 10% off voucher. Near the entrance was a saxophone ensemble. A very festive evening. (As is often the case the image is sharper in large)
By the time we left we were starving so we went home via The Wetherby Whaler for fish and chips!
This morning was all hands to the pump at church getting things ready for the first Christmas service, our Toy and Nativity service tomorrow and later the village lighting of the Christmas tree with refreshments in church afterwards. I was helping put up the Christmas tree and other ladies were creating floral decorations. Chris did his usual death defying act to put the star over the chancel and then went out to help erect the wooden crib in front of the church.
All ready now thanks to these folk who do the ‘doing’ in the background.

(It would seem that yesterday’s bird had ‘Fat Finch’ disease. Thanks to freespiral for giving me a link to a website that showed me one just like it. Sad but it seemed to be feeding OK. It’s apparently not uncommon with birds feeding at feeders.)
