Fleeting Moment

To this point in the afternoon, I was trying to make the most of a puddle amongst the reeds which would be a challenge to get excited about at the best of times. Needless to say it was a dull, grey and overcast day.

Then I looked up to see this scene in all its splendour, illuminated by a sunbeam. I hardly had time to grab a couple of rushed shots before it vanished, let alone carefully compose a masterpiece.

I did catch a slim piece of blue sky to add some contrasting blue and I think a larger better placed element would have helped a lot. I love the rich colour and deep shadows which recovered sufficiently to avoid blocking up.
