Neapolitan tree

After church our son and I headed north to Comrie. My wife stayed to see our friends before their departure south.

Our departure was delayed a bit while we assessed the roof. While a tarpaulin had shifted nothing fundamental had moved despite the thumping noises through the night. I nevertheless contacted the architect as the forecast for Tuesday looks worse.

The weather on the way to Perthshire was itself much worse than I had anticipated. Torrential rain being swept across the road, with a lot of surface water.

Arrived at our friends, had a spot of lunch, chose the tree and bound it to the car. The bedcovers used this year give it a look of Italian ice cream.

Then off to Innerpeffray to join the annual Carol concert. One of our friends sings in the choir. I’ve not been to Innerpeffray before, overlooking a bend in the River Earn. I will go back in better climes as it looks fascinating. Scotland’s first public lending library from around 1680. Alongside it is the 16th century St Mary’s Chapel, home of the original library.

The concert was in the Chapel. It was great and we all kept warm in the unheated building by singing along to some of the carols. Outside the weather was atrocious. After refreshments we headed back home through deep surface water and, in many instances, rivers of water ( and debris) flowing off the fields. Then heavens for Satnav as, in the dark with the downpour of rain, getting to the main roads would have been a challenge without it.
