marooned*

This poor butterfly is currently in our living room. It must have hibernated and now the warmth of the fire is waking it up. It's beginning to look a little ragged and I'm not sure what to do as it would surely die if I put it outside. Maybe move it to a cooler room?

It has been a day of rain, high winds and more rain. Many of the roads around us are flooded so instead of yoga and shopping tonight, we are staying in.

*I've never thought about this word before, but wiki says it comes from the word for a fugitive slave. Marooning was what pirates or mutinying crew did to their captains, leaving them on an island with some food, water and a loaded pistol to end it all if they so chose :-(
