Good News!

I had to go back to the specialist today to get the results of some tests I had done before Xmas. His rooms were on the other side of town right near the river so I was keen to see what the bird life was like after I'd seen the doctor.

The test results were all normal and it seems my thyroid condition has somehow corrected itself and all my vital functions are currently working as they should!

This news was a very big relief and although I will always have to have regular tests to check what's going on, at this point it's all looking pretty good!

I skipped happily out of there and ran across the road to a seat beside the river determined to get a blip!

Within a minute a group of ducks were heading towards me from further down, and right in front of me boldly striding out of some reeds came this lovely mother swamp hen (I think) and her two youngsters.

I think they were expecting food, but unfortunately I didn't have anything. She herded the babies up quite close to me and then the three of them stood still and stared at me intently to see what my next move would be.

Just then the ducks reached us and this feisty little mother turned around and attacked them and chased them off, wow she was amazing. I was a little stunned but admired her spirit and I wished I had something to give them :(

It was a really hot and windy day and they were getting blown around but were determined to hold their ground and keep staring just in case some food magically appeared!

Eventually I had to get going so I slowly got up and took a couple of farewell shots and walked away. When I had gone about 10 steps I looked back and they were still standing there, ever hopeful.

It was a happy day for me as I had been ever hopeful too that I could become well again and amazingly it seems that I am!! :)))
