Not Another One!!!

Today was polling day for our third general election in 4 years and 7 months. That's not to mention the European election 7 months ago, the EU Referendum 3.5 years ago, the Scottish Independence Referendum 5 years ago and local elections. However, I've put the photo of our polling station in mono to reflect my fear that yet again there won't get a clear mandate for any one party to govern and parliament will still be 'stuck'.

For interest I looked at the last three election results for the top 4 parties:
2010 - Conservative 306, Labour 258, Lib Dem 57 (coalition), SNP 6
2015 - Conservative 330, Labour 232, Lib Dem 8, SNP 56
2017 - Conservative 317, Labour 262, Lib Dem 12, SNP 35

I've never been a fan of the first past the post system, not least as governments adjust boundaries and a few seats have half the electorate of others. Also England has fewer MPs for the population size than any other country in the UK (average constituency size in 2017 was England 72,200, Scotland 67,200, Wales 56,000, NI 68,300). I would prefer a form of proportional representation and more collaborative working in parliament, not least as NHS/Social Care and the Climate Emergency can realistically only be moved forward by a long term plan signed up to by all parties. There again............that was rejected 8 years ago by 67.9% to 32.1%!!!
