Between fen and mountains

Snow on Pena

It was 20 degrees last week. Today there was wet snow and the surrounding mountains got a good covering. I have blipped Pena before but not in the snow. Climbing to the top represents a good pre breakfast constitutional. They say that if you can walk up from the village in 40 minutes, you can do Canigou in a day (11 hours there and back according to the signposts). That is a climb from 600 metres to 2700 metres. The top of Pena is a mere 1000 metres. I have climbed Pena many times in around the required time but I have only climbed Canigou from a higher starting point. Anyway, all of this is academic. Today has been a day for staying in and getting on with a few jobs.
