Ripples on the Water....

At lunchtime today I drove to the Taylor Dam, where under shady trees, I joined our special artists group for a shared lunch and Christmas Good Will. What a great group of friends they are! Later I took Maisie for a walk along and on top of the actual Taylor Dam structure in a strong, hot northerly wind. Maisie didn’t like the gale-like conditions.
From very early this morning a large and varied group of police, local Maori, Volcanologists, Military, Navy, Family Members gathered together and in a carefully planned operation proceeded to recover six deceased victims of the recent catastrophic volcanic explosion on White Island. The personnel physically carrying out the very difficult recovery were highly trained SAS soldiers wearing very elaborate protective clothing and gear. Their skill and courage means that the six victims can soon be returned to their grieving families. A job well done.
