Upstream

It's been a while since I've been down the River Don - I've certainly not been down since the November floods. Even today the water was high and fast flowing. I thought this might be the case, so I was not expecting to see Grey Wagtails or Dippers. I had hoped there might be some Goosanders, which I haven't seen so far this Winter, but the only river bird around was this Grey Heron, the ultimate poser. Another in extras.
Between us and Fishlake where the worst of the flooding occurred, several other rivers join the Don - the Loxley and the Sheaf in Sheffield boosted by the Rivelin and the Porter respectively, then the Rother and the Dearne.
