Wide Christmas

Today Mr isbi needed to repair a neighbour's gate lock which he had cut to let the bulldozer driver through so we ventured to the edge of the fire zone at the back of our property.
As you can see there isn't complete destruction here but we didn't go any further as had been warned of the danger of falling trees.
They seem to have the fire pretty well contained in the valley, although even here we saw a log still on fire. Just then  a couple of trucks came along and we pointed it out to them but they didn't seem too concerned. They probably put it out but there must be little fires like that all over the place.

Bob's Wide Wednesday theme this week is Christmas so this is where we usually go to find a Christmas tree. We had no success today!
In fact I have never been less prepared for Christmas. I do have a few of the presents but nothing done about food. If it wasn't for the grandchildren I think we would just postpone it.

Speaking of grandchildren, four of them are staying here in Blackheath with us tonight.
With rather unfortunate timing the family is moving house tomorrow! Needless to say I have been of no assistance the last few days and to top it off Bec's grandmother is seriously ill in Adelaide so her mother, who was coming to help, has had to fly over there. It's also one of Graham's busiest days of the year so down to the 2 grandfathers and me to assist.

Just to top things off the official fire warning says:
"Strong westerly winds, very hot temperatures and dry conditions are expected. The fire danger is expected to be EXTREME.
Fire has the potential to move south of the Grose River and may affect Medlow Bath, Blackheath and Mt Victoria over the coming days.
Under EXTREME fire danger conditions, only properties that have been constructed and prepared to the highest standards are defendable. Only stay if you are physically and mentally prepared.
Leaving early is the safest option for your survival."

It's all happening!

The extra is for hobbs who couldn't find a road closure :-)
