The Holiday Community Challenge

December is the month when, in many parts of the world, thoughts turn to Christmas and New Year celebrations. We know that this time of year means different things to different people.

For some it is a religious festival, for others it is for meeting up with friends and family, exchanging gifts and enjoying events and parties. For others it’s a quiet time for curling up in front of the fire, a time for reflection, perhaps planning and making resolutions.

One thing we are sure about is that Blippers enjoy sharing their daily lives and, as we say goodbye to the ‘10s and welcome in the '20s, we’d love to see what you get up to and how you celebrate.

From roller skating to mass on Christmas morning in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas to festive saunas in Finland, there are some fascinating traditions around the world, some going back centuries, some very modern and utterly bizarre!

New Year’s Eve has its own traditions such as first footing in Scotland, scarecrow burning in Ecuador,  and huge firework displays on the banks of the Thames in London, at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia to name but a few.

Then there’s some of the more unusual rituals such as the Loony Dook, an annual event held on New Year’s Day in Scotland when people dive into the freezing waters of the Firth of Forth at South Queensferry, often in fancy dress braving the cold to raise money for charities while shaking off their Hogmanay hangovers.

We know that so many Blippers give us an insight into their world every day and we also know that you love a challenge.

If you would like to share your holiday images, please tag a maximum of two images #BCDecHol between 19th December and 6th January (no entries submitted outside these dates will be considered).

To be eligible, submitted images must include the following tag: #BCDecHol (for Blip Community December Holidays).

Feel free to include additional tags e.g. #Christmas or #Hello2020 and a location. And, if you’d be happy for us to share your image on social media, you can also add the tag #OK2share.

We look forward to seeing your photos!
