Hopefully...

This will make you smile.

We arrived at our hotel in Exeter about 11.30, not too far behind mum & dad. Too early to check in but we grabbed a tea and loo break before heading off to the market. Whilst having tea the reception called to say our car alarm was going off. (I should explain that Mr C uses a hire car through work that usually gets changed every 6/8 months and this one he has had for about 5 weeks or so and the alarm has never gone off before). Out he went to sort it out. Off we went to the market and Cathedral, stopping in a large teepee with open fire in the centre to enjoy a mulled cider and shelter from the rain. As the rain got heavier, we headed back to the hotel and then they rang again to say the alarm kept going off. Once back Mr C moved the car so it was near the hotel building rather than the road (was it traffic setting it off?) but no it still wouldn’t stop.  Mum, dad and I relaxed in the lounge, still waiting for our rooms to become available and I gave her pressies from Lucy and us. In the meantime Mr C had sat in the car for about an hour ringing different people to see what could be done. An RAC man was organised to come and see what he could do. Mr C left his car keys with reception so they could point said button to turn alarm off and we went up to our room to sit and wait. RAC man rang about 4 to say he was north of Tiverton and arrived about 5ish (I was a little worried as I had a table booked for 6.30). Mr C reappeared about 5.50 to say the chatty chap opened all windows, doors, boot and bonnet and closed them all and they then sat in chaps car for 45 minutes to see if it would go off again.... Magic! It worked :-D We and the hotel reception staff were mightily relieved. He thinks one of the sensors could have got wet.... I’m not surprised the amount of rain there is.

Because of the weather, I ordered a taxi to take us to the little family restaurant up the road. We all had a lovely meal and mum was thrilled with her birthday plate of chocolates. It had stopped raining so we walked back to the hotel but it did start again just before we got back.
