At last

The long-promised high-speed glass fibre internet connection is getting closer.

First announced to us in October 2017, this "owt for nowt" project subsidised by Parish, County, State of Bavaria & encouraged by EU is to give the 40 odd properties in our 2,500 inhabitant parish with the oldest, slowest internet connections (old copper telephone lines), the latest high-speed kit. Costs us nothing. Those in the village with "adequate" connections are being by-passed for now but having to suffer their pavements and roads being dug up.

Back in September, the cable had been "shot" under the stream alongside our property and today it was now being laid to the village.

The photo was taken mid-morning, the snowplough was out spreading salt as it was damp and the temperature dropping rapidly. On the left, a tractor-like machine with a single plough is cutting through & laying the cable in one operation.

An extra of the stream part and some of the hold-ups they caused outside our entrance, including the delivery of Christmas trees.
