Boxing Day often felt a bit of a downer when I was little - probably because my parents were feeling like Oreo the kitten in the photo. But it’s been another full-on day for us, beginning with the last of the Star Wars movies in the luxurious reclining seats at the Vue Cinema at Ocean Terminal. (Have to say here that we loved it - all that tying-up of story lines and the wonder of proper sound...). And we watched it with the girls and their parents which is the only way to see a movie that completed a story that began when their father was the age they are now.

Then it was off to spend the rest of the day with the other half of our family, meaning more presents and more champagne (actually rather amazing English sparkling wine made by the traditional method) and more delicious food and more wine - and the cats.

The sleeping Oreo was cuddled up beside me for ages; he and his brother Arthur seem very happy in their new home and are already much loved. And if my daughter-in-law ever reads this , she may indeed judge that they’ve wriggled their way into my affections...
