Going home

It was not the sweetest holiday ever. I had a ferocious migraine that started on Christmas Eve and lasted till Friday morning, when Sue's cold, that she has had for the past nine days, escalated into asthma and bronchitis, and I took her to a hospital emergency room for X-rays and a breathing treatment. Fortunately her Xrays showed it's not pneumonia, and the breathing treatment and some medication helped, so we were on the way home by mid-day.

I feel lucky that the migraine disappeared in the early hours of Friday morning, just before I needed to be clear-headed and calm driving her to the hospital. We are both grateful that she has the insurance coverage and resources of a good hospital nearby, and she is going to be slowly recovering. The ER physician, Dr. Trueworthy (sounds like a name in a Jane Austen novel), said it will probably be another ten days before she fully recovers. We spent the afternoon watching a very moving Indian movie made in 2018 called Shonar Pahar, about an old woman's friendship with an orphan boy and how the friendship transforms her relationship with her son. It has some implausible bits, but we both loved it. Brilliant acting by Tanuja (these theatre people who use only one name, I don't know....).
