Marten

Our field barn which is actually in the forest on three sides has been attacked by a marten. We hadn't noticed it as we seldom use it but today had gone to look at some wood planks we have stored there.

The main weight carrying beam at the top is only being held together with spider cobwebs and the first decent snowfall would certainly bring it down. There are also several other holes in the felt roofing that have allowed in water & rotted other vertical beams but luckily not quite so bad.

Regular readers will be aware of my loathing of heights but help is at hand. Angie mentioned it to a friend whose son is a timber building specialist and he has said he and his brother will come over tomorrow and see what can be done. Luckily we should have sufficient timber ourselves to do the repair - just need the screws, knowledge and courage!
