Katoomba Deco

These are the doors to the Savoy Theatre, one of the earliest movie theatres in NSW, now the Avalon Restaurant.
It was opened in 1911, and in previous years has been a skating rink, dance hall, casino and billiards rooms.
An extra of the exterior.

Today has been a horror day for bushfires, especially in Victoria and southern NSW.
Another fire kicked off in Blackheath, near Evans Lookout Rd, but is under control now, I gather.

My friend in the coastal town of Bermagui has told me the sewerage and water treatment plants have been destroyed, and they are cut off. They are meant to boil water, but they have no electricity.

I won't be hearing from her again in the foreseeable future as there are NO telecommunications at all.
I gather some communication towers have collapsed in the wind and heat.

The situation is volatile and ever changing.

It'll be a very quiet new year for many people, myself included.

The fireworks on Sydney Harbour will go ahead, despite the controversy, which has been huge.

I've started a new journal, Face It.

A friend from our photo group has just posted his first entry.
Please drop by and make him welcome.
