Oliebollen & appelbeignets

Traditional Dutch New Year's Eve treats (the kitchen does look like a battlefield, but who cares !) Oliebollen are deep-fried doughnut kind of sweet buns filled with raisins and apple, and apple beignets are deepfried dough-dipped slices of apple with cinnamon sugar. Our own family tradition is having a light dinner around 7 pm and a souper with smoked salmon, eel, prawn salad and other goodies after midnight to accompany the bubbly. Have a good New Year's Eve/Hogmanay everybody. Here's wishing you all a good , happy, healthy and creative 2020 and may common sense and harmony return in this new decade !

Thanks very much for the kind comments and stars for yesterday's transient leaf.
