Sweet

Posting this on 1.1.2020 because I happened to check back as to when the last missing day of my journal was. Couldn't work out why this single day in a period when life was 'normal'. Luckily managed to find these three photos that my daughter had sent from Ireland on that day showing them digging into home-grown sweetcorn. Yes, Ireland & Sweetcorn.

End 2016, early 2017 my daughter uttered half suggestions that the family were getting fed up with 365 days a year wet & cool Ireland and even perhaps considering a country move.

The summer of 2017 changed all that! Photos started coming in of the tops of feet being sunburnt because of the careless act of going outside with only flip flops, exposing delicate pink skin to the whole brutal force of the sun.

The sweetcorn was grown in the greenhouse but still, what an achievement. As regulars know I wage war on maize but that is the mass monoculture growing of it for animal feed & electricity production. Human edible sweetcorn is fine.

Talk of moving has since ceased.
