Snow Pillows

A bright day despite the cloud, with snow still on the ground, I was enticed into the wood by mounds of snow sitting on the ice around the bottoms of the trees. The snow pillows looked like little islands and the simple graphic shapes attracted me to experiment further.

I liked this image because of the arrangement and repetition. I was careful to keep the islands separate and I found the Y shaped twig pointing to the island in the top right interesting.

I think showing the texture of the ice and long shadows created by adjacent trees, helps to add variety to the negative spaces.
